How do airlines confirm?

Hello,

My airline (Air Canada) doesn't seem to know about this rule. Is there an official Chinese website I could reference? Have you dealt with this before?

Agents in airline call centres typically won't know about it, and can't be expected to. It's not their job. But it is the job of check-in agents at the airport to know the rules, and you almost always won't have a problem. It's nothing special. If necessary, the agent will check an IATA database called Timatic, you can access versions of it online.
