About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Connecting in Kunming to Chengdu

Hi I am a British citizen. I am flying from Laos - Kunming (3 hour connection with checked baggage) - Chengdu (staying 48 hours) - Singapore.
Does the direct transit rule apply in Kunming and can I therefore get my 72-hour free transit on arrival in Chengdu?

No. You need a visa in advance. Two stops in China limits you to 24 hours transit without visa.
