About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 Hour Transit Visa. Two questions:

We will be traveling from the US arriving in Shanghai April 15 then embarking on a cruise ship which will stop at Tianjin/Beijing and Dalian within a 6 day period before concluding in Japan. Does this qualify for the 144 hour 'free' transit?

If we do not exit the ship in Dalian, does it qualify?

Thank you so much!
