About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

visa confused here in Seattle

can i go Seattle to Shanghai, stay 72 hours, then fly to Chang Mai Thailand, stay 2 weeks and fly back to Shanghai for 72 hours, then home to Seattle with out the entry permit??

Yes, you can do that because you are able to use 144 hr free transit in Shanghai in both directions.

thanks for reply..that is great news as i didnt want to spend the $250 for visa if not needed. just for clarification, this would work if one was to do this and go to Japan for the 2 weeks instead of Thailand , correct? thanks so much

Could be any third country as long as your flight from Shanghai is nonstop.
