23 hour layover on Pakistani passport

Hi,
I have booked a flight from Vancouver, Canada to Islamabad, Pakistan. My layover is in Beijing, China for 23 hours going and 14 hours on the way back. Do I need a transit visa for my stay which is less than 24 hours? I am a permanent resident of Canada but will use my Pakistani passport for travel. Thanks!

Amer, you cannot enjoy 24 hr direct transit, you need to apply for a visa beforehand.
