About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying Bangkok to Detroit via transfers in China

I believe I qualify for 144-hr visa but thought I'd double check...

I fly from Bangkok to Guangzhou
Guangzhou to Beijing then
Beijing to Boston and onward to Detroit

Do I qualify for 144-hr free transit? Is there anything I need to do? Thanks for your help!

Hi, you won't qualify for 144-hr free transit because of the layover in Guangzhou. You need to apply for a visa beforehand if the layover in mainland is more than 24 hours.

Even if the layover is under 24h, you have to apply for a tourist visa as Gungzhou doesn´t allow a 24h transit with multi stops (just if the first entry is Beijing).

Oh no! And how do I do that if I can't get to the Chinese Embassy? I think I read they don't allow online visa applications.
