About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Beijing to Shanghai. I will be like transiting in Beijing for 2 hours.

Can I arrive in Beijing (from North Korea) and immediately hop on a plane to Shanghai and apply for the 144 hour visa there.

No. The 144-hour transit applies to persons who are stopping in one Chinese city only. Two or more stops limit your transit time to 24 hours.
