Are we able to take a day trip to Xian from Beijing on this visa ?

We are traveling From Los Angeles to Delhi ,Plan to stop in china for sight seeing for 5 days ,from June 23 rd ( coming into Shanghai at 6 am and leaving out of Beijing at 5 pm on June 27 th, wanted to see the Terracota soldiers in Xian ,Would the free transit for 144 hrs be enough to cover out trip.we are U.S citizens
