Does L visa still require a temporary residence permit?

If I visited multiple Chinese cities as a tourist (L type) am I still required to obtain a temporary residence permit in each city?

Hi, if you will stay in the hotel in mainland China during the travel, you don't need to obtain a temporary residence permit at the local PSB of each city.
