About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit into Shanghai PVG Airport

Wife & I traveling from Chicago to Manila, with 12 hour layover in PVG. Can we leave the airport for just a short tour our dinner? Our luggage is transferred on to Manila so we don't pick it up. Is that okay?

There have been recent reports of people being denied ability to leave the airport if stop is under 24 hours unless they have a hotel reservation.
