144 hours visa free ???

Hi can you help , my wife and I will be landing in Beijing 04/09/18 at 15:25 visiting Xian and leaving from Beijing on 10/09/18 at 00:40 = 129 hours 15 minutes. Will this be covered under the 144 hours exemption clause or do we still need to apply.
Many thanks

There is no 144 hour free transit carried out in Xian, so you should apply for a visa for the trip beforehand.
