About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit: I'm going to travel from Brisbane, AU to Los Angeles through Beijing.

I would like to stop just one day (no more than 24 hrs) to look around in Beijing and leave. My passport is Mexican. Do I need a visa?
Thank you in advance.

That's fine. However, if I were you, I would stretch my layover past the 24-hour mark. Recently people are complaining that immigration are refusing to let people in simply because their layovers are a couple hours shorter than 24 hours. Also your passport must be valid for more than 3 months.
