We are based in Beijing in mid-May and would like to take a day trip to Baoding via the Bullet Train any suggestions of what to do in Baoding for the day.

Yes, Yesanpo Scenic Area is recommended. It is an emerging and developing tourist destination combining gorges, rivers, mountains and virgin forests. Besides, Baiyangdian Lake is also a good choice. The largest fresh water lake in North China consisting hundreds of shallow lakes and waterfilled depressions. Have a nice trip!
