About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

travelling from vietnam to china by train

I am travelling to Vietnam on an American Passport and will have a visa to travel in Vietnam. I am interested in also visiting china. Do I need a visa if I am going to arrive in China by train? Am I eligible for the 72 hour free transit?

Mary, no, the 72 hour free transit policy is not applicable to those traveling by train.

Plus trains from Vietnam to China arrive in Nanning where you don´t have the 72/144 twov.
