About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24-Hour TWOV for itineraries with two separate bookings

Hi, I would like to know if we comply with the 24-Hour TWOV if we land in Shanghai on one ticket and depart on a separate ticket 9 hours later. We will need to collect our luggage from the inbound flight, and check in and resend the luggage for the outbound flight. This implies that we will be landside during the transit. We are holding Norwegian passports, so we do not eligible for the 72- Hour Visa Free Transit. Thanks!

If you travel country A-Shanghai (9 hours)-country B, you will be able to use the 24 hour TWOV there. You should contact with the airlines to ask if your luggage will be delivered to the final destination directly. If yes, you don’t need to collect it.

What will be the case if the airline does not check baggage through? In this case I need to collect and recheck the luggage.

It's pretty much the same with 144-hour TWOV. Once you get to Shanghai, go to the dedicated counter and see the immigration officer. After you've got your entry permit, pick up your bags, go through customs and go to the departure level to recheck your bag.

Great! This seems to be what I need. One last clarification: The two separate tickets will be with SAS and Qantas (outbound) / China Eastern (inbound). So different alliances. Do I need to change terminals, and will this pose difficulties? Sorry for being picky, but I don't want to get stranded half way to SYD with my family.
