About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Frankfurt - Shanghai - Hong Kong - Shanghai - Frankfurt

My boyfriend and I would like to tavel to Shanghai from Frankfurt. Then to Hong Kong. And afterwards back to Shanghai and then Frankfurt. We already booked the flights from FRA to Shanghai and back. The round trip to Hong Kong is not yet booked.
My questions are:

- The flights from Shanghai to Hong Kong will be with a different airline and a separate booking. Does this cause any problems?
- Its always written „seats need to be confirmed“. We usually don‘t reserve a seat when booking. We choose our seats when checking in online 24h prior to the flight. Is that a problem?
- What, if the flight from Shanghai to Hong Kong gets cancelled for any reason right before the flight and we exceed the 144 hours?

Thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards,
Julia

Your route is fine on both ways.

You just need a confirmed ticket, not a confirmed seat.

Separate airlines and separate tickets are fine.
Just print your confirmed ticket, it doesn't need a seat allocation.
There are several non-stop flights every day from Shanghai to Hong Kong; no need to worry.

if there´s a cancelled flight and you have to exceed the 144h, you have to contact the PSB to get a visa.
