I want to visit China for business matter

I want to visit Shanghai for 5 days and look for a product or a company with which I want to start business of my own in near future. But as of now, I don't have any contacts in China who can provide me an invitation letter. In this case, how should I apply for the visa? What I can obtain is the round trip ticket. Thank you
