About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Vietnam/Shanghai/Vietnam...

Hi, currently live in Vietnam with a valid work visa, and I want to fly to Shanghai, direct flight and return to Hanoi, the same way, and just for a few days, I have a valid US passport.

That's not going to happen because it obviously isn't transit.

So, I can't go to just visit for a few days? I also have a 10-year travel entry permit for China in my old US passport, but because I ran out of pages, I had to get a new US passport...and they did not transfer the visa. I thought I could just travel with my new passport and hold the old passport with the valid visa in it. My travel agent said no. What do you think?

If that's the case then you still have a valid visa. All you need to do is to travel with both passports.
