We will be travelling to Hong Kong for 10 days. During this period, we would like to go over to Shenzhen for 72 hours stay. Do we need a visa for that?

Chiew, yes, you need to apply for a tourist L type for that. There is no 72 hour free transit in Shenzhen and your passport is not eligible either.
