guangzhou: visa requirements, custom regulations, day trip to shenzhen

1.Do I need to apply for a visa from the Chinese embassy in Malaysia for a 10-day stay in Guangzhou? What are the requirements(how long before traveling, documents required)?2. Any restrictions on items in my baggage(e.g foodstuff)? 3. For shopping, anything special in Shenzhen compared to Guangzhou? For that purpose, is a day trip to Shenzhen too hectic?

Yes, a visa is necessary for your trip. As I know, it takes 4 working days to get it. You need to take your passport and your flight tickets.As for foods, no special restrictions on that.Too be honest, I think Guangzhou and Shenzhen provides nearly the same things for shopping.
