I am a British citizen. I am travelling and want to get a visa for china to enter in may.

I will be in Australia in April. What is the best way to arrange a visa from Australia?

All the information you need is on the Embassy of the Peoples Republic of China in Australia website. There is a link for Visa and Consular Affairs. You can download and print the application form from this site and application needs to be made at a Chinese Visa Application Service Center located in Canberra, Sydney Melbourne, Perth or Brisbane. You may be required to get a Letter of Invitation from a chinese citizen living in China. I have successfully applied for visas at the service centre in Melbourne about 6 times in the past 8 years. It's not as complicated as it first appears and the visa is usually issued around 10 days after application.

I had heard it was difficult to get a visa if you are a Foreign national other than Australian applying from the visa centre in Australia? Are you Australian and/ or do you have certain residency rights? I am travelling to Australia on a tourist visa . Can I also ask, how recently have you successfully applied for a Chinese visa and were you just applying for the z class tourist visa?

Hi, as I know, it's possible for you to apply for the Chinese tourist L type at the CVASC in Australia. You can have a try. You should first prepare the relevant documents and your Australian tourist visa, and then submit the application to the CVASC one month prior to your trip. If you are still worried, you can call the relevant CVASC to confirm that before you do that.
