About:China Visa on Arrival

I am an Australian living in Thailand on a work permit. Can I expect a Visa on arrival in Shanghai.

I am invited by Huawei (the electronics company) to come to China (Shanghai) to discuss the design of some electrical equipment. This is in 2 weeks so I have time to get a visa issued in Thailand. I must travel to Malaysia in this period so not so easy to do. If I arrive in Shanghai with my Australian passport and a letter from Huawei with contacts and phone numbers will I be be given a visa - probably three days.

You can't get a VOA without a pre-approval letter issued by the government. However you can use free transit if you hold an eligible ticket.
