Hi, im flying from Singapore to Guangzhou and im staying there for less than 3 days,

after that I will be flying from Guangzhou to Hanoi to stay there a little while before flying back to Singapore. Am I eligable for the 72-hour visa even if im flying to another country after that?

Yes, you are eligible if your passport qualifies.
