Can I travel with Travel Document from USA to Nepal Via Guangzhou because my passport is expired?

I am Nepalese Citizen. I am a Permanent Resident(Green Card) of USA. I am travelling from USA to Nepal via guangzhou airport. My Nepalese passport is expired and I have a Travel Document obtained from embassy Nepal.My question is, Can I travel with Travel Document to Nepal Via Guangzhou? Prompt help is appreciated.
