Kapil, the first and the most important detail is that you do not need any kind of visa because your itinerary will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit. Your total transit time in China is shorter than 24 hours, so there is no reason to be worry about. You will do the following in the exact sequence. When you perform check-in in Sydney you will declare that you are flying to Kathmandu via China under 24 hour visa free transit. In that moment you will present your flight tickets to the check-in staff. After a short check, you will be allowed to board Wuhan bound plane. Upon your landing in Wuhan the first thing that you will do will be to fill out arrival card because you will have to collect & re-check your luggage and for this reason, you will simply have to formally enter China. You will tick the box on the arrival card where it is written - transit. After that you will perform automatic fingerprinting. With a filled out arrival card and a fingerprinting receipt you will approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight tickets and along with arrival card and fingerprinting receipt. This is all free of any charge. After a short check you will be granted a permit and then you will cross the immigration and head to collect your luggage. When you are done with that, you will head to the check-in to re-check your luggage for the second leg of your journey. Your second leg will be a flight to Kunming that is a purely domestic flight. When you land in Kunming you will just proceed to the exit immigration and reach the gate for your flight to Kathmandu. When performing check-in in Sydney you will inform yourself about exact details about collecting and re-checking of your luggage because it is possible that you will have to do it even in Kunming. In any case, you should not bother yourself with this detail until your check-in in Sydney. Have a nice journey.
