Do I still need to notarize the invitation letter from my friend in China for the custom?

I already have a tourist visa but the custom asking me to submit the original letter and bank statements which is the Chinese embassy hold all my original requirements.

You can ask the embassy to give back all the original documents. Usually, the embassy just keeps the copies.
