waiting for a new passport

Question

My passport got water damaged and I’m currently waiting for my new one to arrive in china in a few weeks. If by some chance the passport gets here a few days to a week after my residence expires will I still be able to get it renewed without applying for a new one? If not what Can I do in advance?

Vincent, usually, the residence permit should be renewed one month prior to its expiry date. Thus, you are advised to go to the exit and entry administration to inquire what you can do in this case.

Waiting for a new passport
