144hour free no need visa in shanghai??

Question

I was told if you visit Shanghai you do not need an entry permit for 6 days is this true can you confirm it and can i apply for an entry permit within those 6days that i am there?

You can visit Shanghai for six days without a visa only if you are in transit to a third country and your passport is from one of the qualifying countries.
