About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Leaving sfo-beijing (20h layover), then final destination is Bangkok.

I am a Philippine passport holder with a green card. Do I need a visa to exit Beijing?

or coming from Bangkok, there is a 17 hour layover to Beijing going back to San Francisco, CA. Can I exit Beijing?

Under 24 hours with single stop in china in each direction you should be fine to use the 24 hour direct transit.
