will the 72 hour visa for beijing be extended to 144 hours by january 12th?

We are flying from Canada to Singapore to Beijing. We will arrive in Beijing at 15:30 on Friday January 12th and we're scheduled to leave Beijing at 17:00 on January 16th. That's 96 hours.

It is said that the 144-hour visa free in Beijing will be implemented  by the end of 2017, but there is no further news about the exact time. You'd better to check the news on Jan 1st. If not, you will still have time to apply for one visa.
