About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Mongolia to Beijing to Guangzhou to Australia

I want to fly from Mongolia into Beijing a 5+hr layover but stay in the airport, then fly to Guangzhou for a 12 hr layover and use the Transit visa to do a bit of sightseeing. Is this allowed?

Henny, your travel route is eligible for the 24 hour direct transit in China. But I cannot if you can leave the Guangzhou airport for sightseeing. You can call the Guangzhou airport to confirm this.
