About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US citizens traveling from Mongolia to US

Hello,

My companion and I are flying from Mongolia to Beijing, China. We will be in China for less than 24hrs. We have a flight from Beijing, China to the US. We are only using Beijing, China as a transit. However, we have separate tickets, as they are from two different airlines. So, we will need to collect our luggage in China. Will we be allowed to utilize the 24hr visa free entry to China?

This is not a problem at all. Upon your landing in Beijing the first thing that you will do will be to approach 24/240 visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight tickets. After a short check, you will be granted a permit and you will head to the immigration and then to collect your luggage. After that follows your new check-in and a walk to the gate for your flight to US. Also, it is important to mention that at the time of your check-in in Mongolia for your flight to Beijing, you will declare that you are traveling to US via China (Beijing) using 24 hour visa free transit.
