About:Shanghai 15-day Visa-free Policy for Cruise Tour Groups

Cruise traveler from Australia

We are a family of 4 traveling on cruise ship from Hong Kong to Japan, stopping at Xiamen, Shanghai and Beijing before moving on to Japan. The stops in Chinese ports are only for a day. We plan on sourcing our own tours or self guided in these ports. Do we qualify for a 144 hour free visa? Traveling in March 2018. Thank you.

No, 144h visa free policy is not available in that case. You need to apply for a visa if you would like to travel around. Have a nice trip!

Would we qualify for the 15 day cruise ship tour exemption or the 72 hour visa free?

Hi there, you are qualified for the 15-day Visa-free Policy. However, the condition is that you have to join a tour arranged by certain Chinese travel agency if you wanna tour around.
