Tokyo-Shanghai-Jakarta for Indonesian Passport Holder

I noticed you answered a question from an Indonesian passport holder before and with that in mind I am pretty sure the route I am going does not require me to obtain a transit G. However, as this will be a return flight and on my way back to Tokyo the waiting hours will be pretty long (around 12 hours) I was thinking if I can go outside the airport and do a little sightseeing. With this, will a visa be required? Thank you for your help.

If you will travel like Jakarta-Shanghai(12 hours)-Tokyo, you don't need a transit G type, and just apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport, then you can leave there to explore the city. Nice trip.
