About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US Passport holder to Shanghai via cruise to Singapore

Will arrive Shanghai 2/22 stay in hotel 3 nights then 2/25 board ship to Asia, Thailand ending in Singapore. Can I take advantage of 144 hour free transit? I have made arraingements for a visa in Vietnam. Also a stop in Hong Kong and Busan.
