Hi!I have been in the country for a year on a student X. I need to apply for the extension in January, do I need to get a new medical check done in order to apply? Apart from the documents listed above is there anything else that I need to submit when applying for the visa extension?

You need to get a new medical check for that, and you also need to prepare the relevant documents including your Chinese residence permit, admission letter and JW form from the school for the extension.
