May I know how long it takes for both? Does it require 2 application or just 1?

Hi, it may require 2 applications, and it usually takes four working days for the processing of both visas if the China embassy or the consulate will issue them.

First, you need to provide passport, and its copy, the application form affixed with a passport-style photo, proof of your financial support, transportation and accommodation arrangement, and your travel plan. Next, submit the application to China embassy. If you make the application in the USA, usually, it will cost USD 140 and USD 30 per person for Chinese and HK visas. Just for reference.
