About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travelling less than 24 hours but with 2 different companies

Hi guys,

I am travelling from France to Vietnam, with 2 stops in China (global time in China < 12 hours). However I have two different plane tickets. One going from Paris to Guangzhou with a stop in Xi'an. And another one, with another company, going from Guangzhou to Vietnam.

Am I eligible to 24 hour direct transit ? Do I need to go through specific procédures?

You are not eligible because Guangzhou does not allow multi-stop transit unless the first stop is Beijing.

Hi,
Are you sure about Guangzhou (close to Hong Kong) ? The above article refers to Zhengzhou as not allowing multiple stops, but not Guangzhou.

The current Timatic text reads "Transit incl. multiple stops within China (People's Rep.) is permitted at Guangzhou (CAN) only when the first transit point is Beijing (PEK). The total maximum transit time is 24 hours."

The article above is outdated and the restrictions in Zhengzhou and Xi'an are removed for US and Canadian citizens.
