About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

Hi I am traveling from the USA to Shanghai I will be there for 78 hours do I need a visa

Hi, Mike, if you will go to a third country or region rather than USA after transiting in Shanghai, you are eligible for the 144 hr free transit in there. No visa is needed.
