About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hours transit from Taipei to shanghai

Hey is it possible to travel from Taipei - shanghai - Hong Kong - taipei and get the 144 hours of free transit without visa? Or is it only for long distance travel? I have a german passport. Does anyone has already any experiences with it it seems quite complicated to me. Thanks a lot in advance!

That's totally fine if all of your flights are nonstop. Tons of people have done that because it was impossible to get a Mainland Chinese visa unless you go to HK.
