Do I need at China visa

I am taking a cruise in March 2018. I fly to Bering on March 13 and then on to Xian. On March 16 I fly from Xian to Hong Kong. The cities that I will be in are Xian, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing. I will not be in any of them over 72 hours. Do I need a visa
