About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Fly in to Guangzhou, exit overland to Hong Kong

Australian passport, can I get a 72 hour transit flying into Guangzhou then flying out of Hong Kong?

Would I be able to move freely throughout Guangdong province?

You do have free movement within the whole province but cannot exit overland to Hong Kong. In fact, you are only allowed to enter and depart via Guangzhou airport.
