About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Alright so I work at Japan, but technically my passport is with the USA.

I will be traveling to the USA for a week and otw back to the Japan will be in Shanghai for 19 hours. Will I be qualified for the Visa since technically Japan is not my home and the U.S. is?

That's fine. Immigration couldn't care less as long as you are going to a different country.
