About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Layover at CAN for 3 hours and 20 minutes

Dear Travelchinaguide team,

I'm a US passport holder and will be traveling from Thailand to USA, with a layover at CAN for 3.5 hours. From reading your website, I believe that I am qualified for a 24 hour TWOV, is my understanding correct? And I can just apply for this visit at the airport upon arrival, right? Approximately how long does it take to apply, get the luggage, and go through customs? Will 3 hour transit be enough? Thank you so much for your help!

Hi, you are right that you are qualified for a 24 hour TWOV in CAN, and you can go to the transit counter in the airport to apply for the free transit. You can get the result within ten minutes if only few people are waiting there. Your 3 hour transit could be enough for you to get the luggage, and go through customs. Nice trip!

Thank you for your reply!

Sorry to bother you again but I just want to clarify (as another person told me I wouldn’t be qualified to go):

I want to go from Bangkok to USA (Home). My ticket has two layovers. One will be at CAN for 3 hours and then PEK for 2.5 hours. Am I still qualified for the 24 hour TWOV? Thank you!

You won't qualified for the 24 hour TWOV if you travel like Bangkok-CAN (3 hours)-PEK (2.5 hours)-USA.
