About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US - Korea - Shanghai - Korea

I have a US passport but staying in Korea for some time. I want to take a 2 1/2 day trip to Shanghai and then return to Korea again. Will there be any issues with this? Will I need a visa?

Yes, you need a tourist L type for China because Korea - Shanghai - Korea is not a transit and you cannot use the free transit policy.
