About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Returning to origin country?

I have this planned...

Canada-Japan-HK-shanghai-canada planned.

I arrive Shanghai and depart 6 days later on the same ticket. Am I good to go? Is Canada a 3rd country in this case?

HK-Shanghai-Canada is fine for visa-free transit if your flights are non-stop. You're good to go.
