About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do i need a 24hour or 72 hour

Hi, we are travelling from Melbourne to London via Chonqing with a layover from 22:00 - 15:00. We want to book a hotel room at the airport and then continue through to London. If we want to leave the airport how do we apply for a visa? We are on Australian and New Zealand passports.

Thanks

Hi, as your total layover time in Chongqing is within 24 hours, both of you are able to enjoy 24 hour direct transit in there, and no visa is required. Just apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport, then you can leave there to stay at the hotel. Nice trip!
