About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I qualify for 24 transit visa?

I am a US citizen returning to US. I am currently in Malaysia and have a flight with layover in Beijing for 8 hours and 2nd layover in chengdu for 2 hours. Do I need to apply for visa since I have 2 stops in China or will the 24 hour direct transit be ok?
