About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

tourist L type for uk passport holders for Shanghai

We are a group of four tourists holding uk passports. From Hongkong we will arrive at Shanghai airport on 23/02/2018 and embark a cruise ship at Shanghai port to reach Hokata in Japan on25/02/2018. Do we need any kind of visa?
Thanks

Kulwant, you don’t need a transit G type or tourist L type because you qualify for the 144 hour free transit facility in Shanghai.

I'm doing the same trip as you and I too am confused by the free transit visa requirements in shanghai. Do you just fill in the paperwork when you arrive? It is not clear on the websites i have visited. Sue

Fill out the standard arrival paperwork (every one does this even those with visas in the passport). It should be passed out on the plane but if not there should be a counter prior to entering the line to fill out. There should be a dedicated line for TWOV when you arrive at passport control in Shanghai.
