About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 Transit in Shanghai

Flying from Singapore to Taipei to Shanghai [3 to 4 days] to Dallas - Everything I can read says it would qualify. Is there any reason they would not admit the person on entry? Is it possibly to get a visa in Shanghai upon landing - trying to modify a trip last minute to go through Shanghai instead of Hong Kong.

Singapore to Taipei to Shanghai [3 to 4 days] to Dallas will qualify for the 144 hr free transit in Shanghai and you need to inform the airlines in advance that you want to use the free transit in Shanghai, and show the tickets and passports at the immigration counter upon arrival. But you cannot get a regular visa after you arrive at Shanghai.
